Land Surveyor

I am currently in second year at university, studying a surveying degree.

I am working on an assignment where I am using Trimble planning software to plan the best time to survey a particular area. This is all going quite well until I am asked to discuss why the DOP values for Geometrical, Position, Vertical and horizontal are different (or similar)

I feel as though I understand what's happening reasonably well, but I am struggling to explain (or find the material online) as to why my values are very similar across my given time-frame, and why my best time frame for all DOPs is occurring in the same (roughly) half hour time period.

Can anyone shed some light on this please, or direct me to some reference material online.

Nevermind, I have found a couple of articles that make sense of all of this.

It would seem that the similar rise and fall of DOP's is directly relative to the number of available satellites in the sky.

The DOP numbers will differ slightly based on the fact that they are require a different ideal geometrical layout for each of the DOP values.
