Professional Land Surveyor

What excites you the most about land surveying?

Surveying being the science of where excites me most. Also, working as a land surveyor, through analysis and conversion of raw data regarding geography into something meaningful, it actually contributes a lot towards developing and infrastructural projects. That's where my satisfaction lies in the accuracy and problem-solving aspect of the survey-be it designing new roads, complex structures, or establishment of correct boundaries. Another thing that excites me about the profession is how dynamic it can get. Each project develops its own peculiar challenge that requires combining technical expertise, fieldwork, and geospatial analysis. I especially love how land surveying integrates traditional methods with advanced technologies such as GPS, GIS, and remote sensing, therefore affording me the opportunity to be part of projects shaping communities and improving livelihoods. More than anything technical, I just love the split between indoor and outdoor work, which involves the interaction with engineers, architects, and construction teams for the successful accomplishment of projects. It's all so motivational when the job gives a direct impetus to infrastructural and urban development.
