  • Thanks for the effort.  I will do more testing. Sorry.  This error typically occurs because in the readme first file, it explains that the zip file should be moved into the DC_Survey folder and unzipped to that folder.  There are several reference folder/files and RESOURCES is one that needs to be in the  DC_Survey folder.  That may help but I will check further.  Thanks again.

      Hi,

after following the read me file, I installed the application successfully.

it looks great and helpful but i think it's required more planning to be much more familiar to all users levels starting from the newbies like me to professionals like you.

if you allow me to help you with it i will be thankful.

      Best Regards.

      • If you can locate the Documentation folder, there is a user manual that will guide you from start to finish in the process and options available for the using the software.  Let me know what you think after following that manual.

    What is Geodesy?

Here is some general reading material....I'm sure your country has some kind of geodetic reference system...otherwise you can use the stars...

Its all about a reliable starting point that you can base the rest of your survey on.

      Hello Mr Paul,

Seriously WOW, free references most of them over wikipedia and government document with UNBELIEVABLE amount of information, I never thought we can find that much of information for free like that before.

that is amazing post from you sir I really appreciate it.

i wish now to ask you more questions if you don't mind of course:

lets say that I start my surveying project using total station with reference point from my company or supervisor, lets say its coordinates for that point, can we use handy navigator like Garmin devices or mobile GPS Navigation? Or it will be useless because its not accurate enough?

      • Hello Mahmoud,

Your welcome.....After your starting point has been checked against existing information "Check Point" start your survey.

At this point I would recommend that you research this sites tutorials on basic surveying...If you do not have a mentor, find some survey equipment and experiment, there is a lot of real time information on how to do everything....read,attend seminars, do an internship, volunteer to work for nothing in exchange for instruction, get a part time job as a rodman, pay attention.....surveying is an accurate science, you need to learn the basics to maintain that accuracy....Ok

Take Care, What country are you from?

        Paul

  • Hello Mahmoud,

First I would suggest that you research your existing reference system. Your municipality or government authority should have a geospatial department that could advise you of existing monuments that you would be using.
