Land Surveyor
Has anyone come up with a good way to get accurate measurements on large storm boxes along with the inverts of the pipes? The first thing people think of is to climb down in there, but storm boxes are enclosed spaces and for safety reasons we do not allow anyone inside them.

We have been coming across boxes that are larger than their covers and some pipes are 6' + away from the manhole. This keeps us from getting any accurate measurements for the designers.
    • Sorry ....misunderstood your situation....do you have a scanner?rent one?1201377573?profile=original.....at the mine another surveyor inverted a scanner in the opening of a ball mill....it will scan upside down....that will pick up all x,y, z in the manhole...if interested contact  FMI survey department, Morenci, AZ for method support

  • Hello James, I've taken shots on the top of box culverts and measured down with a hand tape, documented measurement and method.....phone call in to the office surveyor creating the drawing....not sure how tight you have to be? Paul
