Hey guys
what are 2 difference between the geoid and observed mean sea level????
#1 = The goid gives an approximate calculated sea level surface whare as Observed mean sea level is the actual observed position/height of a phusical object on earth-----over a period of around 19yrs of hourly observations, these obs are averaged to give the observed mean sea level
What would NO.2 difference be??
Cheers

Geoid model is the sea level without any influence from any tides, winds and undercurrent. It is the mathematical model of the sea due to the influence of gravity only. However for the mean sea level(msl). It is the observations taken at the gauges over a period of time, this observation of the tide could be affected by the wind, tides, undercurrent or even passing ships.
Hope this helps and correct me if I am wrong. Cheers!
