Have a look at www.ceaser.co.za on the all new CEASER_field program for Engineering and Topographical Surveyors. It runs on any Windows Mobile device and uses the same driver engine used on the older program that ran on the Workabout from Psion, which has been a huge success.

Show Off Your Best Benchmarks from the Field

Today, while I was going through a closet of old equipment and various odds and ends, I ran across these benchmarks and monuments and I thought it might be fun to start a thread so everyone can show off their pictures of surveyor benchmarks from the field. I started an album here.
This one is from Memphis Tennessee by the Division of Engineering...It's marked "Do Not Disturb" but obviously someone decided otherwise.

Here are some of the other markers that I found in my dig.

Some HUGE improvements have been made to the LSU Local page which may be of interest to all members.

I have added several new locations to the grid, in addition to the new Support Groups based on Location and on the Types of Equipment members are most familiar. We have many members who are having issues in the field simply because the equipment manufacturers do not offer the support needed for certain types of equipment-especially out dated or earlier versions. By visiting this page and joini

I just wanted to let you all know that I have added 6 new groups (more coming soon) for land surveyors based on geographical location. We now have groups for Africa, Asia, North America, South America, Australia and Europe. Please take a moment to add yourself to the group which matches your profile. This will make translations of documents easier to share, help similar location based surveyors find and connect with one another, etc.

I just read your column in Professional Surveyor Magazine and thought "what a great idea!". So I am contacting you to see if you would be willing to send me a copy of one of your AOO and AIO pdf packets. I'd like to take a look and see if I can come up with something similar.

Sincerely,

I don't know how many of you guys could possibly be as excited about passing the 800 member mark as I am, but believe me when I tell you that getting 800 professional land surveyors together in one place is not an easy task! I just wanted to thank everyone for their participation and hard work. When you combine that with all of the surveyors and LSU members on other social networks, its getting up there pretty quick!

Testing the Sony Bluetooth microphone

In order to create my short GPS process videos out in the field I anticipated that I will be using a wireless microphone so I opted for the Sony Bluetooth microphone. The first video I have uploaded will test this microphone. It seems to perform very well. The next video will be covering the project idea, the equipment and software I will be using.

Today were two things on my agenda. First, to test my Sony bluetooth video camera microphone. I shot some raw footage of my test so now I need to edit them and post them here on this website and also on YouTube. Second on the agenda was to attempt my first video of the GPS project I want to do. Well, recording myself was a bit challenging since I am not used to record myself and carry on in front of a camera.

Today we have exciting new upgrade to the group- LSU Local. That's right- you can now search for other land surveyors in your area and form gatherings and meetups if you like based on location. I am in the process of adding more and more locations to the grid, so if you search your area and do not find yourself, you should go to your profile and fill in your location correctly. Also if you do not find your area listed yet, please send me a quick email to [email protected] and tell me
