However, Artificial Intelligence seems to have absolutely no idea about what a land surveyor should look like.

what AI thinks a land surveyor looks like..

sometimes it invents things it doesn't understand

Granted, I doubt many out there are trying to use Stable Diffusion or other AI tools like DALL-E to generate images of land surveyors doing this and that. However, I have. Mostly because I am curious about how much the public actually knows about what a land surveyor is or does. For example, if you run a prompt like "a photorealistic painting of a professional land surveyor in the future using a total station instrument to measure a mountain holding a plumb bob and gammon reel" you'll get something like the image above. Here are a few others that might make someone wonder whether AI knows any more than the general public about the importance of Land Surveyors.

As technology continues to advance, artificial intelligence (AI) has become more prevalent in various industries. However, the field of land surveying seems to be an exception in the AI world. Despite the crucial role that land surveyors play in the development and maintenance of our communities, AI seems to lack an understanding of what a land surveyor actually is.

This reflects the fact that, unfortunately, most of the general public has little to no understanding of the importance of land surveying. However, it is essential to recognize that land surveyors are the ones responsible for providing any and all accurate measurements and data that form the foundation of our built environment, which society relies upon. They ensure that boundaries are properly marked, maps are up to date, and construction projects are completed to meet local and national regulations.

The field of land surveying is more complex than just measuring and mapping land. It requires a thorough understanding of geometry, mathematics, geodesy, and laws related to property rights. Land surveyors must also possess strong communication and critical thinking skills to effectively work with clients, design professionals, and government agencies.

The lack of understanding of the role of land surveyors has led to the undervaluation of their work and the misconception that their skills can be easily replicated by AI. However, the reality is that AI cannot replace the human touch and expertise that land surveyors bring to their work. The accuracy of land survey data is critical for ensuring public safety, protecting property rights, and promoting sustainable development, and only a licensed land surveyor can provide the level of precision required.

Is AI Useless to Land Surveyors? Absolutely not.

All of this may seem like "preaching to the choir" inside a community for land surveyors. Nevertheless, there are many ways that land surveyors can use AI to improve their businesses.

As you can see, there are many opportunities for Land Surveyors to both use and improve AI. In conclusion, it is crucial to raise awareness about the importance of land surveying and the valuable role that land surveyors play in our communities.
With everything that is happening with the big tech giants this week, a lot of people are thinking about the sustainability of platforms like Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp. Quite a few that I have talked with are concerned not only with the future of their own personal data but also the questionable practices being used to monetize each and every aspect of our lives. I just wanted to share with you just one conversation that I had today with a student surveyor in the community.

Questions from a Young Surveyor:
"I only recently made a FB profile so that I could learn best practices in Surveying. Yesterday was horrible for me only because I could not access my notes inside FB, gathered from experiences shared by older surveyors. This has me wondering...Why do surveyors put all of their knowledgebase on Facebook inside closed groups, where it is impossible to search for anything specific and disappears everyday? In fact, they all seem to be creating competing groups, which, in my opinion is ridiculous. Isn't this further harming the profession?"

Anyone paying attention has to admit, she has a valid point. It is no secret that the surveying profession is having a tough time attracting and supporting new talent, difficulty maintaining awareness in the public eye and an even more difficultly in educating, mentoring and training new surveyors. Would it not be more beneficial in the long run to have all of our collective surveyor knowledge archived and accessible inside a site that Surveyors can totally control, like Land Surveyors United Community, where it can be organized and owned by land land surveyors, rather than Zuck? Even more importantly, where support isn't monetized? Look around you....there are no advertisements or spammers on LSU and your expertise can be not only share exclusively with surveyors, you can fully control your own groups too! This is what LSU was built for....to empower surveyors. We have low overhead and as a grassroots community, we run on member donations and traffic to our jobs board. It is as simple as that. Facebook, in many ways, has just become the print industry all over again for surveyors....privatizing the collective knowledge base. Indeed, Facebook was built for that, but LSU was built for you, the surveyor!

Just 2 years ago, there were only 9 Land Surveying related groups on Facebook. Today, there are 104 and counting. Here is a collection for you to sift though if you are interested...i gathered them all in one place for you. Why is this important? To illustrate my point that we are not working together. Every group is competing for attention from the same users, further splintering the divide.

Please don't take me the wrong way... I love the FB groups and for those who know the "square root of Arkansas" :) My favorite group The Field Crew isn't even a group that I created. You can learn a lot from the older, wiser surveyors in the mix. However, the ability to quickly spit replies and share a point of interest does not only exist on FB, yet they have made it so simple and convenient that many of us never stop to think how important the knowledge is for those who never get a chance to see the post...then tomorrow it fades into the abyss. There are a LOT of brilliant surveyors on FB, out of convenience, but there are also many attempting to build and grow group after group, essentially giving facebook all of the knowledge needed by the next generation (that doesn't use Facebook). We are killing each other while trying to compete for numbers. It shouldn't be this way. We should all be trying to UNITE surveyors in one place, so that we can have the most impact on the public and the next generation surveyor. Even if group admins would periodically archive and download the information inside groups and then reupload it to LSU into hubs, it would be far more useful to the next generation than leaving it locked up inside Zucks groups. Put it this way... LSU has one of the largest private facebook groups for surveyors on the platform. But even with over 38k surveyors, I stopped pushing the group 2 years ago because I saw the writing on the wall...literally.

Land Surveying knowledge should belong to surveyors, not Zuckerburg. There are now close to 20k surveyors on LSU but how often do you ask questions or share experience there rather than here? How often do you share a photo here inside the community, rather than on Facebook where it only gets eyeballs for a single day? What do we need to do to make this happen? Should we plaster the site with ads and sell your data to get you interested? That is of course a rhetorical question because I do not make any money off of this site and I will never sell your data. But I ask you this....If the community were to have a full blown mobile app, would you contribute more? I will build that for you if so.

My point is this.... Why not take advantage of the experience and expertise of the surveyors inside the community, where you can easily see the credentials of the other surveyors you communicate with? You can control the groups (hubs)the same way and with a lot more capabilities...all you have to do is ask and you can control your own hub. There are hub groups inside this community for every location on earth, all operating in unison. When associations and organizations are having a hard time getting people to their events, I say stop paying sub-par web designers to build stupid wix sites which never get found by search engines until years after the event has passed. Instead, simply be more active in your local hub and share your important announcement and events where they not only can be found, but also where you can send a notification to surveyors in any location. There is no reason to re-invent the wheel everytime you need to get important information out. The hard work of creating the platform has already been done for you. The only thing left for you to do is use it.

I know this may seem like a plug coming from me but I didn't build Land Surveyors United to be the king or controller of anything. I don't make money from the community and I will never sell your information. I built this community so that you, the land surveyor can easily find and post jobs, find equipment, share stories, support one another, organize locally, attract new customers for your business, train new surveyors and celebrate the retired surveyors of the world, who hold all of the knowledge needed if we are to ever fix the problems that exist, due to decades of not being connected and organized. Yet, this type of thing may never be fully appreciated because surveyors have seemingly become too comfortable with being taken advantage of by the current ways of doing things on the internet. This shouldn't be the case.

It appears as though the situation has quietly gotten so bad that surveyors have become disoriented when someone actually goes out of their way for over a decade to build a solution to their problems, if it isn't funded by advertisements. Why haven't the big print magazines and manufacturers mentioned this community in all of this time? Because I do not buy ads on their sites and I will not allow their advertisements dominate the sidebars of our community. I simply do not feel like monetizing the support issues and troubles of land surveyors is an ethical way to do business.

So again, this young surveyor I spoke to today has a valid point. Business as usual is no longer sustainable, considering the problems that business as usual has caused the surveying profession as a whole. Every organization seems content with being an island in itself, getting nowhere fast. New surveyors feel like a lonely island too. They don't even know what to do, many times, until they see how negatively more experienced surveyors react to certain things shared on Facebook, at times bringing out the worst in all of us.

Some surveyors in the field appear to believe that there has never been a better time to be a surveyor. But for surveying companies, the challenges are just beginning. The public has never before been as confused about the role of a surveyor as they are today. They are confused about having to wait 14 weeks for a survey and usually wait until the last minute to have a survey performed, as a necessary evil. Most of the time when my phone rings, it is someone trying to fix a problem caused by an inexperienced surveyor. The vast amount of fraud that circulates creates trust issues for which anyone rarely recieves closure. The splintered state of communication between surveyors and the public display of character bashing and nonprofessional disagreements only add fuel to the fire of thier confusion. Couple that with the unfortunate popular notion that any person with a GPS phone can locate anything and we have a recipe for disaster which must be mitigated. This situation will never be remedied and will only get worse if the surveyors of the world rely on Facebook to solve the problem. It will never happen because facebook does not have your best interest or future in mind when they make their decisions..

For 15 years, even before Facebook, Land Surveyors United has had a mission which can be found in the name. The importance of being able to find what you need to improve your surveying career should not be buried inside FB, monetized by the big corporations and blocked off inside now hundreds of small competing groups, all trying to game an algorithm for your attention. This is of course, my humble opinion. However, over the years I have met countless others who also read the writing on the walls -pun intended.

She concluded: "Too many surveyors are stuck in the past. It just seems lazy for everyone, knowing the challenges faced by the profession, to put their faith in FB to usher in a new generation. FB is great for sharing photos, but I need a mentor. My generation doesn't even use facebook...it's for old people. Let's bring everyone together and face these challenges as a community. I believe the way surveyors share all of thier hard earned insight and experience on FB to be total collective self sabotage, in the highest form. I will be sharing what I learn on LSU with other surveyors because it feels horrible knowing that FB and other sites with heavy advertising are making money off my support needs."

They are capable of using the highest technology in the fields, such as high-order GPS and aerial and terrestrial scanners for mapping, computation, and taking pictures as evidence. Land surveyors are employed on a variety of projects which ranges from land development and mining discovery to tunnel building and major construction, which ensures that no two days would be the same. They are the ones with profuse expertise in measuring and determining land size. Providing advice and information to help designers, architects and developers is the sphere of their work.

Land surveyors play an integral role when it comes to land development, from land subdivision planning and designing the final road, utility, and landscaping construction. Land surveyors are the first people to be enquired for calculation and chart for the land on any construction site. Then comes the architects who use these key measurements to understand and make the most of the landscape while designing and engineers to plan structures correctly and safely, ensuring that buildings not only fit in with the landscape but can be constructed.

Importance of Land Surveying in Road Construction

In the construction of a road, a Land surveyor usually carries out studies to see how and where the project progresses. When a building is complete, an examination can also be done to determine an exact design of characteristics, installations, and obstacles around the region.

For this sort of work building, land inspectors are often needed around the globe. Land surveyors will give a look at the current land scenario to find out the best way to move the least quantity of dirt. For the perfect mapping out of the best possible highway paths, the surveyor will also help engineers. Often the most complicated element of building any and every establishment is the requirement of a bridge or tunnel, the inspection team can assist guarantee they are situated precisely where they need it.

After full construction, an inspector would be hired to help in repair or rebuild the road following an incident. In these kinds of studies, GPS and 3D mapping technology will also play an essential part as they provide more precise geographical data.

Following the construction of any highways, extra surveys are required and the same is included for road repairs or maintenance, which may be needed for a multitude of purposes. During any and every accident reconstruction phase, highway surveys will also be used. The road measurement procedure for a study afterward needed the whole street to be closed for the study team to install devices on the surface of the highway. Today, special laser devices allow this to be accomplished from the side of the highway, eliminating nearly the necessity to close streets or lanes. These systems provide extremely precise information to create comprehensive 3D maps that show not only roads but also obstacles, overhead wires, and other characteristics.

For all the Land surveying drafting and data collection, one needs an expert for the digitization and analysis of the same.
Enjoy, explore and contribute your surveying experiences to our community....a living library of land surveying which is not controlled by 3rd party interests- it is controlled by you, the surveyor. No one else in the world, aside from our community members, catalogs changes in the surveying industry. No one else focuses on collecting, curating and showcasing the importance of land surveyors to society for future generations to learn from and to promote public awareness of this importance. We do and thank you for being a part of this effort.

It takes just a few moments per week for you to curate a rock solid legacy in surveying right from your LSU Profile, and every minute you spend sharing your experience will breathe ten years of life into the profession. Everything you add to this community will someday outlive all of us..which is why I spend so much time doing what I can to make our network as sustainable as possible without having to rely on 3rd parties.

I sincerely hope you'll take a moment to check out all of the new additions and use them to accomplish your goals. As a 15 year old community, a LOT of time goes into keeping this community organized and functioning for all the surveyors out there. Future generations are relying on us to support them with surveying knowledge. I am simply trying to do my part by providing a place to do just that. Your donations to help with upkeep and maintenance are always appreciated and they help tremendously with our community bills and they keep the community moving forward.

To turn maps into an effective communication tool, you need to reach your audiences. To reach your audiences, the map must present itself in a simple way that gives a sense of comfort and easement to the map users. There are many GIS Mapping Companies that can create sophisticated yet simple-to-visualize maps that are truly making an impact in the Cartography world.

What is the Need for Simplicity in Map Making?

In a recent podcast, John Nelson talks about the creative side of the art of Cartography and also sheds some light on the skills necessary to make a good map. From his talk, we realized that there are different skills which are necessary to make a good map and among all these skills the most important, according to John Nelson, is simplicity!

While tools are making map-making easier but that’s going to gibberish if customers don’t get any value from your maps. To give value to your customers your maps should be effective which definitely demands experienced Geospatial specialists. A common mistake we often notice among geospatial specialists is that they try to put a lot of information on a single map often making it discouraging and sometimes even confusing.

Skills Necessary for a Map-maker

Experienced GIS specialists have to work on a variety of complicated tasks such as IT, analytics, and are not limited to being a good database manager and a good graphic designer.

Having a designing background will certainly help the geospatial engineer go a long way in bringing efficacy in cartography. Experience in using tools such as ‘Color Brewer’ and ‘Viz Palette’ will help cartographers to pick meaningful colors for their maps.

Future of Maps

I believe the future of maps is likely in the hands of people who are creative and can bring the various applications of maps to the common people across various verticals.

Authorized groups such as the North American Cartographic Information Society (NACIS) have been a source of inspiration to geniuses like John Nelson who have constantly referred to ‘NACIS’ for their own work. He has the opinion that maps can definitely be taken to a wide array of customers including the likes of Social Media, AI, Blockchain, and not just in Geography.

Conclusion

Map-making is not a big deal to make but to put it into a real-life application can be a little challenging if you lack creativity. Knowledge of the technicality is not enough to make it fit for today’s demanding audiences. Without a visual representation of how predictable data processes run in a GIS mapping company, you can't guess by not seeing any sample work.

Roundtable Discussion: What is the best total station you used in the field up to now?https://landsurveyorsunited.com/profiles/blog/list/roundtable-discussion-what-is-the-best-total-station-you-used-in-2021-05-26T21:30:00.000Z2021-05-26T21:30:00.000Z⚡Survenator⌁https://landsurveyorsunited.com/surveyors/Survenator

Getting The Attention of Employers

After uploading your resume, you can draw attention of recruiters and employers to your profile by showing that you know what you are doing and that you have experience in surveying. The best way to do that is to upload relevant surveying photos, surveying videos and participate in discussions. Be sure to also join your local chapter hub and introduce yourself. All of this will be reflected in your profile when employers go to see how much experience you have.

Find a surveying job takes work, but if you use the community in the way it was intended the surveying jobs will actually start coming to you.

Fun fact: 116,000+ individuals have tried to join this community since March of 2007, but only those who clearly demonstrated within their profile the goal to improve themselves as surveyors and appear willing contribute to the longevity of surveying have been admitted. With that said, since our last update, we've accepted our 18,100th member, which is valuable, if not priceless, for the surveying profession. Nevertheless, in the grand scheme of things, numbers mean very little for future surveyors if we do not unify, build bridges of understanding and strengthen our body of knowledge, as a community of practice and passion. It is my hope that you will find more similarities than differences inside Land Surveyors United while learning something new everyday. Our goal is for all members to recognize that this is the place to come together, focus through the noise and share our percieved differences so that the similarities that we share in surveying become illuminated. Together, we are actively educating the public while supporting and celebrating each other's hard work, innovations and expertise. Thinking locally and surveying globally as a virtual l crew upon which all of us can depend for support is how we usher surveying into the next generation.

I keep this community alive for this very reason.... it is what my dad, Skip Farrow wanted when we first began to build it...and here is it today, his ever lasting legacy and testiment to what he cared the most about, helping surveyors solve problems. It does not cost anything to care but not caring may cost all of us everything in the future.

When we are more transparent about the current workload locally, they public will feel more informed and in turn, work with your time constraints. One of the ways that we are trying to help surveying companies convey these wait times to the public is to provide a search engine optimized surveying company directory where they can create a surveying company listing which can be edited on the fly without having to edit your website or calling your webmaster. Simply make a post here and in the post body, tell the public about your current normal wait. When things change, simply edit your listing which you control. There is no charge to be added to this directory...it was built to for you to use and its incredibly simple to use. If you want to help make this better, you might consider donating toward the upcoming Real Estate Agents App which aggregates Land Surveyors Near Them for referrals and waittimes when recommending a local land surveyor.

The future of the surveying profession depends on us. It is up to us to inspire a new flock of land surveyors in order to mitigate the current Age Gap and Knowledge Gap in land surveying. We hope that you'll see that lot of time and effort has gone into helping unify surveyors for International Surveyors Week in order to hopefully generate a critical mass of activity from the community to inspire a new generation of surveyors. For this reason, every single day of International Surveyors Week is dedicated to a different region of the planet. During the day dedicated to your geography we hope to have a continuous stream of land surveying photos, videos and discussions highlighting what it is like to be a land surveyor in your area of the world.

These cadastral maps can be further categorized in various aspects which is depends on the requirement or the purpose of the user. Infrastructure mapping is such instant. In this study building up a public road cadastre system is discussed.

Public road network in Sri Lanaka has widely spread throughout the country. Until the present day there is no proper spatial database system to management of the road system. Accurate road system mapping integrated with spatial database will provide endless number of advantage from planning development to cost management of a country. One of the key consideration in planning in the development based on road network is to understand the current state affairs in the road network. This requires accumulating reliable, compressive and up-to-date information on the road network condition that is readily available when required.

In my study I am considering the use of road construction data after completion of the road construction which is the as-built and design of it. These constructions have completed with international and local standards imposed by the local government bodies or international funding projects such as projects from ADB, World Bank etc. So these data obtained can be justified that they have the required accuracy mentioned above. These data with its attributes are taken to create a spatial database for a road network in a sample area. Then this method to be

Proposed to create a rapid Public road cadastre throughout the country since in Recent past almost all the roads have been newly constructed or modified. Through this standard Road Information System which also known as RIS could be obtained where it can be used as a multi-purpose infrastructure.

For Details See: http://weare2013.blogspot.com/2020/05/case-study-on-implementing-public-road.html

Reflective Survey Targetshttps://landsurveyorsunited.com/profiles/blog/list/reflective-survey-targets2020-05-13T23:53:38.000Z2020-05-13T23:53:38.000ZMichael Fullerhttps://landsurveyorsunited.com/surveyors/MichaelFuller

Just Retros a Sydney, Australia based reflective target supplier is pleased to annouce that it can now offer RE-BRANDING on our target range, that means you can have your own company logo on your targets.

We are also pleased to annouce we are able to offer consecutive numbering for our targets so each target is unique.

Prices for targets with your logo are the same as shown on our website. One thing I have learned about myself is that my perfectionism can get in the way. On that note, I decided recently to take a different tact. There is a book which talks about this phenomenon (among other invaluable topics) called Atomic Habits, by James Clear. The author also writes about it on his website (at https://jamesclear.com/repetitions) in an article entitled, "Why Trying to Be Perfect Won't Help You Achieve Your Goals (And What Will)". So I am now trying living by John C. Maxwell's quote, "Fail early, fail often, but always fail forward". So without further ado, here is a little bit about me.

Construction and engineering have always been an integral part of my life. Throughout my teens, I worked for my uncle’s construction company (Dan Collins Concrete) in Klamath Falls, Oregon as a laborer and a finisher. This led to other opportunities such as remodeling houses for Derek Van Der Werf, a property manager in Tempe, Arizona who had previously contracted my father for some concrete work (Concrete by Dave, http://concretebydave.com/). I also worked as a finisher and a laborer for my Dad's company. He started the company after the 2007 stock market crash and I was his first recruit, even looking at jobs for estimates and coding his website in HTML and CSS. At this point, I knew I had a passion for learning and growing so that I could help build a better future. I could take the skills I learned from construction and apply them to local and global projects. This is the reason why I pursued my bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Arizona State University (Graduation: May 2017).

During junior year, I had a summer Transportation Engineering Internship at AECOM in 2016. Given my decade of experience in residential/commercial construction, I became a Heavy Civil Highway Construction Inspector at Raba Kistner. In the last three years, I worked on the Loop 202 South Mountain Freeway Expansion Project. For me, this project taught me the importance of soft skills. Throughout the process, I collaborated with various parties such as subcontractors, agencies (e.g. ADOT, EPA, and SRP), and tribal members in addition to my colleagues at Raba Kistner. All in all, I learned that soft skills like communication and adaptability are imperative to complete projects within a timely manner. I was also able to attain my Engineer in Training (EIT) certification by passing the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam, along with several others (e.g. ACI, ATTI, ATTSA certifications). As a life-long learner, I have continued to develop myself. In February 2020, I passed the Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) exam. After gaining some essential surveying experience, I hope to take the PS exam so I can become a Registered Land Surveyor. In the long run, I think it would be great to become a Registered Professional Land Surveyor and a Professional Engineer. The tools, knowledge, and resources gained along the way will help me provide more value, a higher quality of life, and a sense of meaning/purpose/fulfillment to myself, my loved ones, and society at large.

I am writing this post amid a situation of socioeconomic uncertainty and turbulence brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. The economy was booming before the current state of affairs and I hope it continues to do so in order that people can get (and stay) on the right track towards betterment of themselves and others. In these times, it is important to connect, innovate, hustle, adapt, and motivate. That is, we need to lift ourselves and those around us up and strive for a better future. A future of more equal socioeconomic opportunity. A future more resilient and less fragile.
You are ESSENTIAL! During this time of great universal confusion, Land Surveyors United Community is always here for you. Nevertheless, we come to you today to ask for your help.

The financial sustainability of the community is undergoing a massive overhaul (as you may have read in the Roadmap) but as the COVID-19 virus continues to spread, we need some help paying the bills associated with keeping our grassroots community alive and pushing forward into the future. Our goal is to have all of our paperwork and details worked out for our new organization we are assembling by summer - however, all of that has been temporarily stalled with everything going on. We cannot allow this community to become a casualty of this virus.

We do not necessarily want to blanket the site with advertisements. We do not want to have to start charging everyone for access and membership because some simply cannot afford it, but I (Justin) personally cannot afford to keep it all afloat without your help. So what we have for you is 3 ways for you to help in a way that ultimately will help you.

First Way to Help Community as a Member

Visit Vendor Marketplace Presentation

Request a Vendor Hub to be set up for your company

Third Way to Help Community

If you cannot afford to contribute financially, help us by becoming more involved and assist with recruiting more surveyors to your Location Based Hubs. In the United States, this week is undoubtedly National Surveyors Week, but it sure doesn't seem like it. Let's see what we can do to turn this around for the better.

Here are a few things to keep in mind as we try to salvage the remainder of National Surveyors Week and try to remain positive.

1) All 50 States in One Place All of the USA Chapter Hubs inside Land Surveyors United have a new Surveying Photos section where you can upload and share your best surveying moments and give other surveyors a glimpse of what it is like to be a surveyor in your state. Your photos inspire new surveyors to get into the profession and will motivate other surveyors in your state to become more active about promoting surveying locally.

2) Virtual Events instead of Cancellations Any and all events which have been cancelled on the state level due to Corona Virus can easily be attended virtually through your Chapter Hubs. Events which were originally geared to be informational or involve awards ceremonies can be streamed live to a page on your hub and can be attended by up to 16 other computers and can be virtually attended by an unlimited number of participants. I tried to work these details out with the NSPS when the outbreak occured but it looks like this sort of thing will have to be worked out on the state level. So if anyone would like to hold a virtual version of your event and stream it live, simply get in touch with me (Justin) and I will set everything up for you... All you need on your end is a computer with a webcam and I'll do the rest. Your participants will simply need to go to the URL at a specific time to tune into the stream. This practice of hosting virtual events is something we should have started a long time ago, as it is just as effective to provide information virtually as it is to be there in person. Save gas! Go Live! I can help!

3) There's an App for That Our United States Land Surveyors App is already being used by a lot of surveyors in the US. Simply visit the app and add the shortcut to your phone or data collector home screen and use the app to start conversations in your local state hub or share photos to the hub from your phone. Everything is all set up for you.. just share relevant stuff and put your company on the map!

Below you will find the quick links to all of the US chapter hubs... once inside your hub, simply click the follow button to contribute to the hub and to follow the posts added to your state.

We are officially half way through January and we are making some headway with the new Roadmap and you can find a few new announcements about 3 new features added to the community this month under the January tab in the calender. You'll need to be logged in to view our Roadmap to the Future.

An enormous thanks goes out to those of you who have taken the time to read, digest and get on board with the new community Roadmap and especially those who have taken action and contributed their Member Dues for the year so that we might be able to soon afford the necessary Annual Subscriptions for the platform going forward. Everything is explained inside the Roadmap. Presently we still have quite a bit of crowdfunding to do before we are fully capable of funding our important next step, so if you have not yet reviewed the Roadmap for 2020, please do so because it is the most important step we can take as a community to make ourselves more sustainable and resiliant for the future surveyors of the world.

Be sure to also check out the Volunteers section of the Roadmap. We are about to cross 16,200 members and we need help managing various sections (Hubs) of the community, especially those which represent countries outside of the US. We need native speakers to administrate those hubs. If you are a student, retired surveyor or have some down time and would like to help with social aspects of the community, please reach out.

If you are a Vendor and would like to have your Marketplace hub set up for you for February, please get your request in soon so that you don't have to go on a waiting list. In February we begin our massive organization and promotion of those hubs. Thousands of visitors come to Land Surveyors United every month seeking products and services backed by vendors who are transparent and supportive inside the community. That is a mountain of traffic that we want to send your way. You don't want to miss out!

If you are a Recruiter, check out what we have done for you on the Jobs page, making it simpler to connect with qualified talent inside the community. If you are a surveyor Seeking employment, be sure to upload and embed your resume on your profile so that recruiters and employers can find you. It doesn't hurt to also have photos and discussions attached to your profile that show you are qualified to fill a position.

If you are an educator who would like to have your own Classroom Hub for holding both private and public facing discussions, share videos, photos, courses, etc. Be sure to let us know inside the roadmap and we'll get you set up. Having your own classroom inside the community allows for world class multi-media learning environment where ALL of your past present and future tools, presentations and learning material can be imported, embedded and distributed easily, while controlling the permissions and privacy throughout.
