Surveyor Community Digest: Surveyor Apps, International Surveyors Week, Vendors and Job Seekers

Welcome to all of our newest members of the community! By tomorrow we will have over 15,400 members worldwide!  I just want to bring you all up to speed on a few improvements, enhancements and additions to the community over the past week.   Our traffic is up over 400% from this time last month and the community is starting to explode with connectedness.

International Surveyors Week 2019

International Surveyors Week 2019 is just a month away (June 16th-23rd) with days dedicated to all countries and states of the world.  RSVP and Follow the Hub.  This is an entire week of celebration of the Land Surveying Profession, worldwide.  Use your day to share local surveying photos, videos and stories inside your Local Chapter Hub.  We also have this week as an opportunity to introduce ourselves to one another while at the same time promoting public awareness regarding the importance of Land Surveyors to Society.   We have made it simple for you to find your local forum and introduce yourself on the Community page.

introductions for surveyors

Of course Survey Earth in a Day 8 happens on Friday of International Surveyors Week 2019 and the longest day of the year-the summer solstice.  At noon local time, submit a point in representation of land surveyors in your region.  Classrooms and organizations are encouraged to participate as well.  Share photos and videos from the day inside the SEIAD Hub.

I'm just going to drop a few more important mentions and some links to explore so you can see the improvements for yourself.

First, based on member feedback and requests, your community profile layout has been redesigned and optimized.  If you have an empty profile that means you have a lot you haven't shared with us yet.  Try to get in the habit of adding a discussion, some videos, photos and blog posts often to fill up your profile with surveying experiences from others to learn from.

Second, we have added a few new Surveyor Community Apps to the site to help everyone get better connected and more productive in the field.  You can also now add the entire Surveyor App Suite to your phone and then add only the apps that you want to use.  We now have 7 multifunctional apps built to help you do things from the field like share photos to your local hub, find helpful spreadsheets and tools, participate in Survey Earth in a Day and International Surveyors week, find jobs, promote yourself to recruiters and soon, our marketplace app will be completed showcasing vendors who offer services and products to surveyors.

Job Seekers Unite!

We have officially made it as simple as it can be for you to find a Job in Surveying.  Simply visit this page to Create your Resume/CV and you'll be added to this new app for recruiters to find you.  We also have over 15k surveying jobs inside our surveying jobs board.

We also added the resume pool form to this tab on our Surveying Jobs page on Facebook.

Vendors Unite!

With International Surveyors Week on the way, we have been working round the clock helping vendors set up their Marketplace Hubs.  ISW is a perfect time to show off your products and services so if you'd like to have your own Hub to completely control, tell us about your company here.

Enjoy, explore and contribute to our community....a living library of land surveying which is not controlled by 3rd party interests- it is controlled by you, the surveyor.  No one else in the world aside from our community members catalogs changes in the surveying industry.  No one else collects, curates and showcases the importance of land surveyors to society for future generations to learn from and to promote public awareness of this importance.  It takes just a few moments per week to curate a rock solid legacy in surveying but every minute you spend sharing your experience will breathe ten years of life into the profession.

Have a great week everyone.  Feel free to contact me with any questions or suggestions.

Justin
