Pentax Total Station

Hi all.

I started this discussion a few months ago but I'm still having no luck transferring field data in the .csv format form the Pentax R325N Total Station. On my old PC we had a RS232 link which did this task no problem utilising DataLink Software. Now I dont have this RS232 plug and I bought a USB adapter cable but no joy.

Surely someone out there can help me set this up .

  • This is I guess a typical cable incompatibility. In fact, I was in same situation with my Leica before. When I bought the original cable, it simply worked.

  • Unfortunately I don't have this function or options on the R325N.

Some one also suggested utilising the Windows HyperTerminal programme, but this also failed. You would think someone out there has encountered similar problems when the RS232 is no longer an option.

  • I guess your case is a typical communication protocol failure. Merely using a USB adapter does not guarantee protocol compliance. You should buy the USB cable from the manufacturer to ensure compatibility.
