What is with the tiny numbers on the Leica Viva Controller screen ? If there is a bit of sun glare or dust on the screen, it makes it near impossible to confidently read the setout numbers. The minus sign is hard to see and eight's and zero's can be mistaken for each other. I have pleaded with our Leica dealer to see if something can be done, but their answer is, basically, tough titties, the Swiss won't change the screen configuration. Come on Leica, that is what your equipment is all about, making setout easier not harder. In the past 3 years i have used a Trimble S6, it had similar problem until a firmware upgrade and they made the numbers bold font and it made a hell of a difference.

Does anyone else think the numbers should be bigger and bolder?

  • I've got the latest upgrade. The size of the set-out data is something Leica won't change. Maybe it's only me that thinks that confidently seeing set-out data is important. Compare it with a Trimble controller screen and you'll see what I mean.
  • Our viva isnt bad for that actually, but then again im 18 so 20/20 vision haha ;) are you talking about the field controller or total station? im sure after an update the text seemed clearer on the cs15( field controller)
