Not a Surveyor

I am a student at a local community college studying surveying. We were given several pieces of equipment which we sould like to use but which are missing pieces. One of those pieces is an HP 3800a distance meter. It lacks the power pack and cable that plugs into the device Can anyone provide any information about that battery pack? i did try searching HP but to no avail. I did notice that there are multipole pins in the round connector (maybe at least 5 or 6) which suggests to me that there are multiple voltages generated in the battery pack. any information will be appreciated. Bil

  •  Hi William,

Boy did you bring back some memories,One of the first EDM I used in the seventies.I still have some pictures of it.Later Hp made a Total Station from it, the HP 3810A .  I will see what I can find , but this belongs in a museum LOL.  It is a good classroom subject and just to see it ,what a find there are a lot of surveyors today who have never seen one and do not know what it even is. You can download this article . Good classroom material
