I am a civil designer with limited survey experience, trying to understand more fully the concepts behind coordinate systems and transformations.
In my reading and review of the subject, I read the terms "On the Grid" often. Also, I see the term in reference to Grid Based Transformations. I have to assume this refers to the grid on the ellipsoid; latitude and longitude lines. But, I believe it could also refer to the grid of a projected datum ?
