I use a really easy excel sheet that use Helmert 2d equation to transform projected coordinates to field coordinates, if you want I can sen you, You need at least 2 points in both systems.

  • Hi Charlie ,  You will like Jacob Walls programs they are similar to TDS format they can not get any easier. You also will enjoy the 41cx Emulators. The first thing i did when i downloaded mine was to program my Az Sun  in it . I customized AZ011 into it. I have AZ009,  the AZ011 is only 140 +- ,  program lines it works with out the clock. You enter the time and stop watch and angles. The AZ009 is over 900 lines  and Run / stop keeps up with the time when you key in the angles. I also  think you would like the HP 35s it has 801 storage registers indirectly addressing  program lines and memory, it almost programs like the 41cx they made like this for test exam for students keeping it key entry for programs. It only cost 60 dollars.   Talking about the Corps they tried to work me death, over 12 hour days 7 days a week. I kept this up for 5 years. It was alright at first, and i learned a lot about River Surveying and this helped me years later i work on  Dredging projects. I just wanted to do land surveying also. Sometimes I wish i had stayed with them.I have always like surveying property and the history that went with it.  No my first Auto Cadd was 14 then i moved on. I had Eagle point, and Sight Survey with it. I still have all my old programs . Had to update to newer programs these computers programs change ever 3 years, then nothing works. I have TDS Works for Recon this is what i mainly use. I still have 5 HP 48gx with TDS Pro and SMI  Construction 5, data collectors 2 of each 1 SMI Cogo and to many HP calculators to list. Some one is always trying to buy the 48's with the survey cards.  Look at MN dot program it will work on a 32 bit system it's MN Cogo 32 it's set up for public land surveys also it not just for highways.  You may can use it. look at all their  programs they have calculator programs also.
