What is the best way to produce a DEM and to represent the topography of an area? is it from ASTER GDEM 1.5 arc second data or SRTM 3 arc second data.

Can such contour from the DEM represent the true surface elevation taking orthometric and ellipsoidal into account.

thank you for your answer

  • Attached a digital surface model in Red and digital terrain model in Blue.
DEM is not used in common,
This could be derived as geoid or ellipsoid by various means but for us DTM is the most important as surveyors.
    • Off course DTM is the most Important. thanks for your post
