A little help to move to London...

Hi guys,

Can somenone help me with a few issues I have to move to London?

I'm Portuguese, I have European Level 4 in Civil construction (vocational) and European Level 5 in Topography (vocational as well), where can I get equivalences to the topography course?

What other documents should I get before I start looking for a job?

Thank you all,

Regards,

A Santos

    Hello Gil,

With regards to courses there is a bit of a shortage of supply at the moment. HNC courses seemed to have ceased so the options are university degrees/ masters depending on the relevance of your qualifications, or the Worcester Survey school: http://www.surveyschool.co.uk/en/index.html. Should you wish to go down the uni route the University of East London has a surveying course as well as UCL. Be aware however all of these options are not cheap in particular the university courses.

As far as getting a job in surveying is concerned there is currently a lot of work going around, however the issue is that you will find is that companies want trained staff as opposed to assistants... I was in this exact position around 10 years ago and I just went on line and got every number of all of the London surveying firms and rang them up. It only takes one firm to offer you a position.

    Good Luck

    Guido
