New LSU Surveying Firm Directory and Network Updates

May is steadily approaching and I plan to focus on Land Surveyors United groups this month. We have several new features just released and a few in the works. This blog post should bring you up to speed.

Our New LSU Surveying Firm Directory
Over the next couple of weeks, I will be putting together an official LSU Surveying Firms Directory that will be available in pocket sized booklet form and on the web. Thus, I will need your company contact details and company categories to be up to date. This has been made extremely easy for you to get your company listed in the directory. All you have to do is visit this page on the network and fill in the brief information on your company. The benefits of doing this will be tremendous! It will be both available in both print and on the web with enhanced search engine optimization features that will surely put your business in the search engines. For Manufacturers and marketers of surveying products and services: am also compiling a list of manufacturers of both surveying hardware and software to accompany the company information in the directory. If you are interested in promoting your products through this directory and have your material in the hands of surveyors from our combined network, please send me a message with best way to contact you. Our upcoming directory will be printed on 100% recycled materials and will be available online as well.

Inviting Your Crewmates to the Network
It is now possible to create Company Based Groups on LSU and this could mean HUGE boost in productivity for your company! All you have to do is create an official group for your company, upload an official logo and link to your existing website, then invite your fellow workers to that group. For those of you who have a company but no website, this is the perfect way to put your small business on the map! LSU is about productivity and using the web to accomplish tasks in the field. Creating a group for your company will allow fellow workers to make announcements from the field from any cellphone or mobile device, share documents and information for FREE and announce to other members interesting projects that you are working on. You can create your own company based discussions and keep track of important industry news which effects you specifically.

LSU is All About Sharing
I'm pretty sure all of you know what the new Facebook "Like" button does. You can now find it throughout the network and most importantly, on the front page. The next time you sign in, please take a half of a second to press the "Like" button and show your friends what a dedicated land surveyor you are. It will do wonders for the network and for other surveyors who haven't had a chance to experience social networking with other professionals in the industry.

Finally, A Way to Submit Network Feedback for Fast Results
The next time you are on LSU (why not check it out now...hint) look up in the top right corner for a new-ish updated toolbox with a TON of functionality such as more translation tools, Submit a Comment to the Network or about the network, share tools and online surveyor chat. Let me know of any issues you might be experiencing on LSU or suggestions that you may have.

I think that's probably enough for now. I hope you all are enjoying sharing knowledge and experiences with your fellow professionals and I encourage you to use LSU to expand your own personal and professional network. In today's world, its not only what you know, its who you know. All of this technology that I am creating for you to use is actually future technology in many ways...learn it, harness it and succeed with it.
Good Luck Surveyors!
