I hope you are all of you hard working surveyors are having a great Labor day weekend! How have I been spending mine? I've been developing an alternative version of Land Surveyors United for iphones and ipads.
Now, when you visit LSU from your iphone or android, you will be automatically be redirected to the Iphone application/ mobile version of the network. I suspect in the up and coming months, this will be a useful feature to the network as many surveyors are beginning to use iphones in their daily work.
I'm gonna make a small admission here and tell you that I personally do not have an iphone presently so my opportunities to test the interface are limited to friends and family encounters. Therefore I have added a page to the network for getting in touch with me to offer feedback and help me develop the application. So for those of you who have an iphone or android, please send me suggestions and help me test and add on to the application regularly, so as to get the application to a point of being both useful and easy to use from the field. I am also developing this application on my own in my spare time, and could enlist the help from a couple of developer associates when the time comes. They don't work for free so if you'd like to donate to LSU in order to help with the development of the application, please do so. This will help enormously with getting this application to the point of perfect, faster.
I am very excited for this new feature on LSU and members of our network are the only surveyors on the planet who have social networking support from the field. I need all of your help to get this project whipped into shape, so please contribute to it as time permits.
And for those of you who are not yet aware, you can always visit the mobile version of LSU from any phone by adding /m after the url, like so: http://landsurveyorsunited.com/m ;
The present mobile version above is limited to messages, blogs and discussions. The iphone version will have maps, twitter and facebook integration for real time support, methods for tracking your posts and discussions and a way to invite your crew members from the field.
