Customize Your Land Surveyors United Profile In a Flash

I've been meaning to make this post for quite sometime , so with the new year on the horizon i figured it is about time to explain how to customize your LSU profile so that we can all start off with a fresh look. This should take no more than 5-10 minutes and when you're finished, you'll have a more unique profile page, ready to represent you, your company or location for other surveyors across the world to admire.First, log in (if you haven't already) and click on the tab that says "My Page" in top navigation

manage

Second, go to the area of your profile directly below your profile photo which looks similar to the image pictured here and click on Manage My PageThird, click on the Appearance Link which should be in the middle of the page as pictured here.appearanceFourth, you'll see three options -Basic, All Options and Advanced. If you are unfamiliar with CSS and HTML I would avoid the Advanced tab. However, by changing the attributed on the other two tabs, you can change virtually every aspect of your profile including colors of links, background images, sidebars and icon colors. You can use images right on your computer or find some around the web. If you mess up a few times it's ok. Don't get frustrated- with a little bit of trial and error you will have your profile just the way you want it in no time.unique
A Couple of Tips: *Be sure to include links to your company and/or land surveying organizations which you belong to on your profile in the Text Box section of your profile after customization. *Make sure you head over to the Member Map (under Pages in navigation) and add your name and location to it, which automatically links to your profile.*If you would like to have the exact best dimensions for images to use in Header and sidebars, send Justin a note to [email protected] him any questions you might have. He designed the network so he's got this thing mastered.*If you REALLY mess it up, just go back to step 4 and click on the link that says "Use Land Surveyors United's Theme"
Examples of Customized Profiles on LSU can be found here on this post in the Forum.Good Luck Land Surveyors! Let's make the most unique social network anywhere for our industry...don't be afraid to show a little flair! You can always change it back tomorrow if you like.
