Help LSU Grow By Voting Once
This month I have tried something new in the way of raising money for development on Land Surveyors United. I entered a web design contest, in hopes of winning $2500 which will go towards promotion of Survey Earth in a Day 2.0. You can help this effort with a single click of your mouse. Simply go to this page on Facebook before the 1st of the month and click VOTE beside the Land Surveyors United website (which can be found here). Of course, we can always use your donations for developmenton the network, but this month I decided to try something different and really need YOUR help to win! VOTE VOTE VOTE!
Welcome to all of our newest members to the community! With now close to 3900 members globally, we have introduced a new powerpacked page just for curating content for the network. The Curate Content Dashboard is a page you should bookmark and head right over to when you have an idea to discuss with the network, photos to upload or videos you'd like to share with us. Simply look for the (+) in the navigation.
Upgrades to Our Global Members Map~ Now Edit Your Location!
Our Member Map Goes Members Only
As many of you have noticed, our Global Member Map is now for members only, allowing you to reach out to members of Land Surveyors United with ease. The old member map just showed location and wasn't much help, but we wanted to protect members from outside contact. Now, if you are a member you can find another member on our new member map and also edit your placemark in anyway you see fit. The next time you are on Surveying.org, look in the right sidebar and click on LSU Member Map option. Updating your status using the Mobile Rover will soon make your profile show up in real time on Surveying.org. In other words, we can all be "surveying" as a community all over the world, every day. Land Surveying Terms A-Z and How You can Get Involved
I have been working on a project for the community called Land Surveying A-Z which can be found here. This is and will be a continually evolving subject index for the network and eventually an alternative way of navigating the site. There is an embedded commenting form below the index for you to either suggest new terms to be added to the index or share a link to a post or page inside the network which does a good job of explaining an existing term. All surveyors are encouraged to contribute and suggest terms in any language! Help the community and our industry by helping to create the most comprehensive glossary of surveying related terms anywhere on the planet! Read More
Next Week, we will be adding the ability to add surveying company pages to location-based groups in order to help your company show up higher in search engines. There will be three options for templates to choose from. It will be assisted by a few case studies regarding how using the network to boost traffic to your site and some examples of surveying companies who are already benefitting from this type of exposure. Here is an example to get your mind going. We have a dedicated Facebook page to watch for updates to this new feature.
