Land Surveyor

Surveying to LiDAR

Aloha gang,

I will give you a quick introduction:

My name is Tom Pattison. I am a licensed surveyor in 5 states. I have almost 20 years of experience in the field of surveying. With over 12,000 jobs completed and experience from Topography Surveys, Construction surveys, Alta surveys, Residential surveys... all the way to Flood and Shoreline Certificates performed on the Hawaiian Islands. I have conquered just about everything in my professional surveying career. I have traveled from Canada all the way to South America to perform vast scopes of surveying work. With that said... I have fulfilled my passion and it was about time for me to move on in my career. About 5 years ago I got into LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging). LiDAR involves flight, and because I love flying so much I strived to get my fixed pilot wing license and accomplished just that within the first years of starting my LiDAR business. I am proud to say I have completed numerous LiDAR jobs all around the nation including Hawaii. I now reside in Hawaii and run my LiDAR business from the islands. Due to the drastic weather changes on the islands we have migrated from a fixed wing aircraft to a Helicopter. Our company now performs LiDAR via Helicopter with a Helipod attached, which carries the LiDAR equipment. Long story short, I can't get enough of LiDAR! There is talk around LiDAR and how it will be highly centered around drone technology in the near future ... this is the reason I am fortune enough to stumble upon these forums. I want to learn ALL about LiDAR and how it will be integrated with drone technology. Our company is currently working on  a new website (http://www.lidarhawaii.com). Feel free to check it out and give feedback.I am looking forward to sharing knowledge and learning from this online community.
