Show us why the public should always call a land surveyor

Where are you surveying?

"There Should Be More Land Surveyor Action Figures and Toys", i thought to myself when my grandson asked me if I would get him a toy land surveyor for Christmas. It dawned on me that I had never actually seen a land surveyor toy in the wild.  I asked my son Justin to run a search and see what he could find and he dug up a stack of surveying related toys offered around the web that will truly amaze you.

How about a Toy Clinometer for Kids

land surveyors toy clinometerOh, the excitement on Christmas Morn! "Mommy, I got the new '007, SECRET LAND SURVEYOR' gun!"

Move Over GI-Joe.. I'm going to work!

So I guess there are quite a few land surveyor toys out there, but there can always be more. Maybe grownups would have a better understanding of what a land surveyor does, if they had played with land surveyor toys as a kid. If you're seen any land surveying toys around that you'd like to share, please do! We have to start educating them early! Merry Christmas Everyone!

  • thought that was interesting too!

  • LSU Justin, I gotta say, that toy set you posted with the transit, tripod, and sub-machine gun sure gives a whole new meaning to "Shoot that monument over there."

  • wow... great post Skip!

  • There are toy surveyors available although I wouldn't call them "action" figures.  Mine are "Scenic Accents, Woodland Scenics, Surveyors, HO Scale A1883".  Go to eBay, Toys and hobbies, Model railroads and trains, and search "Surveyors".  There will be surveyors in "N" scale (itty bitty, 1:148-1:160), "HO" scale (bigger than N, about 1:87), and "O" scale (1:48 ±).  I found the HO scale just about right to glue them down with rubber cement rowed up surveying the top of my flat screen computer monitor in the survey office.

I had a toy surveyors outfit as a kid (circa 1960).  It was all plastic I think but had a pretty functional transit as I recall.  I thought it was great, but don't think I really "got it" at the time.  Love to have one now in my collection.  Ron Blauch
