Where are you surveying?

Land Surveyor

Field Books

Can someone recommend the top three brand field books that a person can buy with longevity in the field and the back pocket ? I I'm thinking I'd like to get a robotic Total Station that's simple to use any ideas there folks?

Chartwell are the UK standard for fieldbooks, and they come in a variety of layouts covering all your survey needs. Thanks to the wonders of the internet - you may be able to acquire worldwide. Virtually indestructible, but can be a bit bulky for the back pocket.
Robotic total station choice really depends on your budget and your intended application. Leica pretty much cover all the bases, but expect to be sitting out the wettest days. Really good kit, but the weatherproofing could be a lot better.
