  • A callibration can be as simple as a single point. A localization generally requires four or more points. Calibration and localization can be the same thing if you are translating coordinates to fit a desired datum. Top Con and Trimble both have very good web resources to assist you with a further understanding of the process. Also depending on what part of the country you are in makes a difference. Usint the WGS-84 with an applied geoid model can create vertical issues with certain software's. The geoid seperation when applied improperrly can distort your vertical solution dramatically. My go to on thesse issues is first youtube and then to forums like these. Best of Luck.

As i understand survey calibration is just to calibrate or changing your gps parameters from utm or wgs84 coordinate system to local coordinate sytem so to make the survey calibration methode.so the methode diferent for all gps instrument type like trimple .laica.topcon..

Depending upon the manufacturer, the process of developing the translation/rotation parameters from GPS results to a local coordinate system may be called calibration or called localization.

Depending upon how many points are co-located (may vary from 1 to many) the results are different.

    1 point -- simple translation

2 points -- translation and rotation

3 points -- translation, rotation, and scale

4 points or more -- translation, rotation, scale and redundancy begins to allow for best fit calculations.

Although some similar names are used in the results, remember it is NOT an adjustment.
