Survey Business Operations (48)

Surveyors tools are basically any device that doesn't necessarily require a specialized skill set to use. A total station is a very sophisticated device that takes extensive training and knowledge to operate with the degree of precision required to meet the standards expected by either legal restrictions and regulations, the client, or both.
For modern day Land Surveyors, this is nothing new.Ā  Ā Surveying has been around for a very long time. It is known as the second oldest profession and men have been practicing it since early 3000 BC. It was used in ancient Egypt when they built the pyramids, and was used by the Roman Empire to establish tax registers of conquered lands. Surveying requires a skill in mathematics and was one of the first professions to be licensed.
The most satisfactory method in surveying small areas is the relative positioning of the control points that are calculated in a co-ordinate system rather than directly plotted by scale and protractor. This method allows all errors to be adjusted and it doesn't depend on any angle-measuring device. Using this survey research method plotted stations are independent and are plotted from precise calculations.
What is a Building Surveyor? A building surveyor is going to be the go-to-guy for any kind of construction or property building ideas, concerns, or questions. The building surveyor usually can be found around new construction being done, but their main focus and specialty is with caring for the project after the original construction has been completed. The surveyor needs to be well-versed in a number of important areas of general construction including repair, restoration, sustainability, design, and maintenance.
One of the first things building surveyors need to do when inspecting the property is to take notes of the character and description of the property, that is, whether detached, semi-detached, terraced, end of terrace and number of storeys. It is recommended to take note of the overall length of the terrace, if terraced house, and check for any signs of movements or rebuilding to other parts of the terrace.
The ability to read and use a variety of maps is crucial in land surveying.Ā  Land surveyors begin with a large-scale map in order to make a landscape-level plan.Ā  After the land surveyor determines the need for specific projects a stand-level map will be required.Ā  Two kinds of stand-level maps include: Transportation maps and Topographic maps.
Land surveyorsĀ are mainly involved with land features and water boundaries. Prior to a building or housing complex being built, the land must first be ruled acceptable for construction. The job outlook for ambitious land surveyors is promising, and the earnings can be considerable.
