Good day all! I am curious what you all say to a homeowner who calls up asking "I need a survey to locate only one of the lines around my property". In my opinion, this is not possible and an unrealistic request, but I am curious about what you all have to say. Thank you and I look forward to reading the comments!

The surveyor might habe to survey that entire property to put that line back in, but yes it can be done if your board allows it.
An example would be if the r/w adjoined the property to the north and was running in an east-west direction. The surveyor could survey that for the property owner by locating monuments on both sides of the r/w in the general area of the property owner. Then they could mark the r/w abutting the property, but they might not be able to tell the ownere where the northeast and northwest property corners are without expanding the search to the rest of his property or adjoiners.
The surveyor needs to research, bid the project properly with a buffer, and the owner needs to understand what they will be receiving. I would always try to get the owner to understand a full survey would be the best option in the long run.
