  • Setup your total station in front of the structure that you wont to check verticality (column, wall ...). choose an uniformed part shoot the Horizontal distance (direct reflectoress) at the top, and at the bottom the difference is the North-south tilt . for the est-west tilt justĀ choose an uniformed part also target the top edge and go down, your helper past an horizontal rule graduated and red the difference between the edge andĀ the vertical cross hairs.

For eachĀ measurementĀ you take the elevation (Z) so you can calculate the tilt of the totalĀ lengthĀ in light of the tilt of a partĀ length( ie: for a part 3 m high we have 5 mm tilt then for 5.5 m totalĀ lengthĀ the tilt will 5.5*5/3=9.16 mm).

    • That makes sense thanks I had also misunderstood the question

      • thanks to mounir themri sir,

it is very useful for me.......jazaakallah kaire sir

        Ā

  • first you should tell us what is your work then we will answer you

  • Why not ensure your total station machine is properly setup and levelled, then target one of the edges of the structure, the way i see it a properly levelled structure should be in line with the vertical cross hairs ???? or am i oversimplifying things

    • dear toby mutambo sir,
