The best way is to join a field crew. If you've never done the work before you may need to start as a survey aide. The National Society for Professional Surveyors (NSPS) has information regarding their Certified Survey Technician program.

Be sure to check out your states requirements, some require a 4-year degree in surveying to become a licensed surveyor. NSPS also has information on schools.

    Good luck!
