We are about to embark on the addition of another ground breaking feature here on Land Surveyors United, this week. I am in the process of adding Speech to Text recognition capabilities to the network, which will eventually enable surveyors to use the network's Mobile Rover in a way similar to radios and walky-talkies in the field. We will call this Speech PTT which will make it even simpler to compose and post stories and forum discussions from the field using your phone and online in the desktop version of the network. You will be able to simply speak, copy and paste. Easy as that!
Imagine A Radio Connected to the Globe
I have a test page up and running on the Mobile Rover here that you can test out if you are using the Google Chrome Browser. Simply click the microphone and speak. After it transcribes your text, copy and paste it into a forum post, surveying story or any of the places where content is curated on the site.
Volunteers Needs Toward the End of the Week
I will need a few volunteers to help me test this application in various browsers and devices towards the end of this week so if you could make yourself available for an hour or so, please respond in the comments below with the following information:
Name or Profile URL
Type of Mobile Device You Take to the Field
Best Way to Reach You By Phone on Wed (send to me in a message if more comfortable)
I'm looking forward to bringing this network even further into the future with this Surveyor Dictation PTT feature. If you are unavailable to volunteer please feel free to comment anyway and let me know what your thoughts are on this project.
