This is A good post for Free Cad software

Thanks for getting back to ePalmetto....looked at them briefly....will keep you posted....
Thank You, Paul
I'm new on here & still learning the ropes so excuse me if I mess up. I'm asking myself the same question as Paul. My old software still works fine but is getting out of date & my CAD files are not always compatible with the software used by my clients. More geodetic features wouldn't hurt either but this isn't a big problem. I just have to work harder & do more calculating but I don't process enough geodetic data for this to be a major concern. I don't really mind paying for what I get but what I am seeing is that the gap between what you can get for free & what the high dollar stuff will do is not real big. Also, these new windows updates have got me thinking about using an alternate operating system like UNIX or MAC. I'm just beginning my research but I don't think I am going to find a free solution. I will settle for a good solution. Ideally, I would like the software to be standalone & run on any operating system except Windows. Sorry, I didn't mean to insult anybody. That's just my personal feelings, tempered with a dislike for monopolies.
I am all ears if anyone has any info. or suggestions.
Thank you,
Charlie
