Programming

Hey everyone,

Can someone help me with a university project in which I need to read in a surveying protocol of a Zeiss Elta total station in a JAVA program that calculates  coordinates of the new points and gives them out in a text file.

Any help is appreciated! Thanks

  •  Hi Carel,

I knew it was not what you are looking for My file is copyright protected and also very large File.

It is hard to find a small enough file that gives a polar to rectangular calculation, then computes new coordinates, then has a print command at the end from a Total Station or not. Here is another site I use that you may find something similar to what you need. They also have a form to ask ??? or help.

  •  Hi Carel,

This maybe not what you looking for but similar,It is for converting files from a Zeiss TS to text in Java.you can access the code if you need it. It comes in German or English .

      Hey Billy,
thanks for your quick reply and I'm sorry for my belated answer.
The zip file contains a program that can convert several coordinate files into a different coordinate format for example the REC file into a pkt file. But it doesn't calculate the coordinates of surveyed points. But still a great help of yours, thank you :)!

  • Hi Carel,

I also use this site ,it is very good. I am trying to find a smaller version similar to mine.

But you may have luck here. Anyway it's a great site. I have used it a long time. You can sign in with

  •  HI Carel,

There is nothing wrong with your file, it was my AV that would not let me open it.

Just though I let you know this. I forgot I changed a setting on it and the firewall.

  •  Hi Carel,

I do not know if my Java code will help you it is a very large program and it does not pertain to that TS only.

I am a member of a programmers site called Code Project, there is a lot of Java code writers there. It also has a forum for Java code for you to ask for help or you have a question. you may like to join here anyway.

There is more than 13 million members someone there can help you I am sure of it ,with what you

    exactly need. Hope this helps.

  •  Hi Carel,

Are you asking for Java code to this TS. or just code. Also I could not get your REC file to open??? is this a video. I will try something different.I can not find what my problem is with opening it.

    • Student Surveyor

Java code would be great, the REC file is a Zeiss generated surveying protocol which can be read by any text editor.
      first number of line
      point number
      point code

followed by the coordinates, X,Y,Z or the surveyed parameters.

      D for slope distance
      Hz horizontal direction
      V1 vertical angle

I did something but I'm not really happy about my result, just thought that might've been a task for someone who studied land surveying or is interested to solute such problems by themselves.
