Hi All,

I have been developing an android application that performs the same function as a surveyors Level Book (e.g. calculating Reduced Level, Height of Collimation). Is this something that the community is searching for? I am considering going through an open Beta to get feedback on the implementation.

The app has two different input methods depending on the orientation of the device. Figure 1 shows the layout when the device is in landscape orientation and performs similar to an excel spreadsheet.

Figure 2 shows the layout in portrait mode where points are navigated between using the back and next button.

Below are some screenshots of the app.

The app also gives the ability to save and email levelbooks via email as an attached csv.

The layout of the csv is as follows:

The main area I can see this being used is a younger surveyor being on site doing a level can quickly send his level-book to the office and get someone to check it before proceeding with other work. It also provides an excellent alternative to writing then transcribing level book data.

I am very interested in getting feedback, please leave comments, suggestions or questions.

Thank you.

  • Unfortunately it is not on the Play Store just yet. I would like to think it is probably 2 weeks away from being published as a BETA. Would there be any other features that you would like included?

I should also add that this is not my day job so communication will be sporadic at times but I will be as speedy as possible!

  • With the innovation of tablets and smartphones, I think this would be a great app. I would use it.
