How to integrate an OS map onto my survey using autoCAD 2011

Hello,just a quick question. A client wanted me to check an old level survey of a farm.I was given the previous survey in dwg form and when i opened it in cad there was an os map integrated with it. just wondering if anyone knows how i do that with my surveys?it made the survey look more professional, e.g. showing roads and neighbouring properties.thanks

    Please forgive me for my ignorance, but what is an os map?

      Hello, an OS stands for Ordnance Survey, they have mapped the whole of the uk. but generally produce paper maps

    insert - external reference¿?i´m not sure, i usually work on spanish version.

      i thought that, but i could manipulate all the drawings, its like they have been drawn in cad

        Carlos is right, xref the Ordnance Survey file into your drawing bind it and explode it to edit lines etc. You will need an OS Licence though.......
