  • Hi everybody, I always like three people but can remember when took six . But i have ran two or more crews on one construction site. And that could be nine. Cutting line more can get done as long as you do not get in each others way. But most of the time two will make a crew . But then you know who gets stuck doing all the work.I think and some might not agree , but one is a lot of work on some one.I just think more can get done with a helper.Plus it is always safer, you never know when you may need help. And if your by yourself and cell phones do not always work . I have seen snake bites, hornets, bears, wild boars, quicksand and cougars, bobcatsĀ  wolves, andĀ  Alligators. And one rod man cut his arm off .SO make mine at lease a double

    • Hay Iman, I just wanted them to know ,That those were by wild animals The most dangerous animal, was when i was shot atĀ  with aĀ  30*30 seven times, Ā  my truck was shot up with all the tires shot. Ā  my instrument and stadia board was shot with buck shotĀ  , all my stakes were pulled up and thrown across the fence and a sign hung there saying don't come back. Two land owners shooting at each other over a fence, line. and if that wasn't enough i almost step in booby trap in a weed field one day, and was told leave and don't come back in another one. Before i call the law. so all you surveyors who work by yourselves take care and keep all this in mine.

      Ā Billy

      • wow. Billy I'm sorry you had to go through something like that

  • 2 man crew is a normal i think

if i Ā have to stake out something 2 man crew is a minimum

if you have a one men istrument kit and "just" have to measure to mapping, enought 1 man

when i worked in the seismic job we had 4 people a crew: 1 surveyor 2rodman 1Ā lumberjack

  • Land Surveyor

1 man usually with Robotic stations!

  • 2 man usually, unless it's something I can do far quicker myself. When running 2 man crews We alternate on construction layout as to who does what, depends on who's sore from swinging the hammer the day before. We check each others calcs as we go. Now with green guys we'll have them Mapping on the rod for awhile so they can learn the codes and line/offset commands, then we'll gradually have them work on the data collector so they understand the process further.
  • Sometime 3 but mostly 2! I usually don't mind not having a rodman!! Sometimes just easier to put the rod were it needs to be than to show someone where!!
  • Two man crew, rodman is normally party chief.
  • 1 man crew. I use a Trimble VX along with a Trimble R-10 GPS. Depending on the job I will bring someone out to watch the equipment while I topo.
