Correction to sea level

 

what impact does the sea level correction has on horizontal position of any given place.This is because when carrying out my ground survey in various parts of the country,the correction which is a function of the height of instrument above sea level and the radius of the earth is always critical.what is its significance when aiming at getting accurate planimetric position.need your views.

  • One of the factors that affect horizontal position is the Scale Factor. One of the factors that affects Scale Factor value is ellipsoidal height. Ellipsoidal height is related to geoid which is the mean sea level. Strictly speaking, HI as geoid referenced can affect point horizontal position. Hope this helps.
