First and foremost, if you are new to the Land Surveyors United family, Welcome! We look forward to all that you have to share with us from your surveying life! Feel free to utilize the resources and tools found this community to gain experience and expertise, find employment opportunities, source affordable equipment, gain exposure for your business and more. Our mission continues to be inspiration for the next generation land surveyor while supporting the needs of the modern day land surveyor.
One of the most important aspects of being in a community like ours is staying active. We are in this together and we will continue to be through 2022 and beyond. Those who know me are aware that I am passionate about doing my best to make this community last forever, inspire future generations of surveyors and strengthen the profession.
As far as online communities go, most communities would give their left arm to have their own International Jobs Board, Community Marketplace, Company Directory, Community driven apps, global hubs for every country and so much more for you to freely use that you will not find anywhere else. You can now find all of these tools gathered together in one place - The Surveyors Wiki.
Our grassroots community exclusively for land surveyors seems to bewilder many who just can't seem to understand how we are still alive when so many have closed up shop, especially over the past year. So a lot of people continue to ask me how I keep up with a community of close to 20,000 land surveyors. Honestly, the hardest part is just keeping the bills paid without going down any path which might compromise the integrity of the community. As most of you well know, we do not depend on any big companies steering our agenda and we do not place ads all over the site. Over the years, I have tried many ways to develop a solution to the problem of paying the bills while adding value but as it stands, It is the members who donate to the community which keeps us alive and it has been this way for going on 15 years.
Would you like for the community to run faster? Donate
Do you want more tools and resources or would just like to help us keep what we have?
Please donate to help with expenses. That's all.
You get access to all of these tools, resources and more!
**I explain the different parts of the wiki in this post about the Best Land Surveying Tools that You Might Not be Using.
Despite all of this, our overhead is quite low compared to other communities our size, but it still costs around $550 per month to keep it all up, not including of course the time it takes to maintain. This is primarily because I pay the bills month to month. If I were able to pay the platform bill annually, this cost would be dramatically reduced by around 20%. If everyone reading this message simply donated $1 we would be able to pay for our entire year up front.
So....with that said, I only ask for donations one time per year so if you are able to contribute to the financial sustainability of the community for 2023, it will be much appreciated.
I am always here for you. Happy New Year to you and your family!
