Sokkia SET630R Data Transfer Q&A

Question

When I attempt to transfer data from my SET630R to my PCSurvey program, "Transfer Terminated - Missing Coordinate for Point #-2147483648" message appears and transfer stops. Any known reason?

Answer

I am not familiar with that program so lets have you give this a try: First configure a program on your PC called HiperTerminal, HyperTerminal Setup for SET Instruments. If you have never used HyperTerminal from this PC to connect to a total station, you will have to set it up. Here are the directions to set it up. 1. Connect the SET to your PC's COM port. 2. Click START, PROGRAMS, ACCESSORIES, HYPERTERMINAL, HYPERTERMINAL. 3. Type in RADIANIS to give the connection settings a name. 4. Click OK. 5. Select COM1 or COM2 for CONNECT USING, corresponding to the port you intend to use on your PC. 6. Click OK. 7. Set the BITS PER SECOND to 9600. 8. Leave the next three options as 8, None, 1. 9. Set FLOW CONTROL to NONE. 10. Click OK. 11. If you get a message saying "UNABLE TO OPEN COM1" or COM2, this means you have another program already using the com port you have selected. It may be Active Sync. Locate the program that is using the com port and exit that program or make it stop using the port. Once you have done this, go back to HyperTerminal and choose menu item CALL, CONNECT. If you continue see another error message, you have still not released control of the com port. 12. Click on menu item FILE, PROPERTIES. 13. Click on the SETTINGS tab. 14. Select VT100 from the EMULATION list. 15. Click TERMINAL SETUP. 16. Select 132 COLUMN MODE. Click OK. 17. Click ASCII setup. 18. There are two options at the top of the window. Make sure both have check marks. 19. There are three options at the bottom. Only the last one should have a check mark in it. 20. Click OK. 21. Click OK. 22. Click the FILE, SAVE menu item. 23. You are now ready to use HyperTerminal. 24. Select Transfer then Capture Text, you will notice a path that the program gives, to change it select browse and save it to where ever you want. When you are ready to receive the data select Start. (To turn off Active Sync, right click on the Active Sync icon {looks like a circle with two small arrows inside} in the lower right of your screen, near the clock. A menu appears. Click CONNECTION SETTINGS. Ensure the line stating ALLOW SERIAL CABLE… is NOT CHECKED. Click OK. You may need to come back and change this setting when you want to use Active Sync again.) Now you should be able to send the information from your instrument. When the data is sent scroll to the point number in question and verify that all of the information is there, if it is then my suggestion would be to contact the manufacturer of that program and ask them if there is a limitation to the size a point ID can be used in any data collection program. The data you will get from the SET will look like this: 00NMSDR33 V04-04.02 21-Oct-05 09:01 112211 10NMJOB5 121111 06NM1.00000000 01NM:SET2130R3 V32-01036714SET2130R3 V32-0103671431 0.000 08KI 1100.000 100.000 50.000 08KI 2150.000 100.000 50.000 08KI 3150.000 150.000 50.000 03NM1.000 08TP 4103.674 100.000 51.151 00000
