Burial mounds, also called barrows or tumuli, where build for many centuries (from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages) as graves (probably often for important people).This one in front of the castle was also part of our survey. It had been damaged over the time by erosion, people digging in hope of finding treasures and also by official archaeological excavation around 1936.However, the archaeologists where and are unable to find out it's age as nothing was found inside.Probably everything was stolen or destroyed long ago.The city archaeologist told us old records say there once was a second one near this, but it can't be found and maybe never existed in reality.
