How to Embed Things into Google Sites

Embedding content in a Google Sites website allows you to include external elements, such as videos, maps, calendars, and more, directly on your site. Assuming your Google Site is already open, follow these clear instructions to embed content:

Embedding Content:

  1. Access Your Google Site:

    • Go to the Google Sites website (sites.google.com) and log in with your Google account.

    • Open the Google Site where you want to embed content.

  2. Enter Edit Mode:

    • Look for the small pencil icon or the "Edit" button at the top right corner of the page. Click on it to enter edit mode. This will enable you to make changes to your site.

  3. Add a New Section or Navigate to an Existing Section:

    • To embed content, you need to add a new section or navigate to an existing section where you want the embedded element to appear.

  4. Click on the "+" Icon:

    • In the selected section, look for the "+" icon (Insert button) at the lower-right corner. Click on it, and a menu with different element options will appear.

  5. Choose the Embedded Element Type:

    • From the menu, select the type of element you want to embed. Google Sites offers various embedded elements, including:

    • Embed URL: Allows you to embed content from a website by pasting its URL.

    • Drive: Lets you embed files, folders, or documents from your Google Drive.

    • Calendar: Embeds a Google Calendar to display events and schedules.

    • Map: Embeds a Google Map to show locations and directions.

    • Video: Embeds videos from YouTube, Google Drive, or other video hosting platforms.

    • Chart: Embeds interactive charts or graphs using Google Sheets data.

    • Sheets, Docs, Slides: Embeds Google Sheets, Docs, or Slides presentations.

    • Forms: Embeds Google Forms for surveys, quizzes, and data collection.

  7. Adjust Element Position (Optional):

    • If needed, click and drag the embedded element to reposition it within the section.

  8. Save Changes:

    • Once you're done configuring the embedded element and are satisfied with its position, click the "Save" button at the top right corner to save your changes.

Additional Tips:

  • Some embedded elements may require additional permissions or settings to be configured. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the embedding process successfully.

  • Remember that embedded elements often come from external sources, and any changes or updates on the source may affect the appearance or functionality of the embedded content on your site.

How to Change Images and Cover Images

Changing images and cover images in a Google Sites website is a straightforward process. Whether you want to replace an existing image or set a new cover image for your site, follow these clear instructions assuming your Google Site is already open:

Changing Images:

  1. Access Your Google Site:

    • Go to the Google Sites website (sites.google.com) and log in with your Google account.

    • Open the Google Site where you want to change the images.

  2. Enter Edit Mode:

    • Look for the small pencil icon or the "Edit" button at the top right corner of the page. Click on it to enter edit mode. This will allow you to make changes to your site.

  3. Find the Image to Change:

    • Locate the image you want to change on the page. It could be an image in the main content area or part of a gallery.

  4. Remove the Existing Image (Optional):

    • If you want to remove the existing image, click on the image to select it, and then press the "Delete" or "Backspace" key on your keyboard. This step is optional if you want to replace the image with a new one.

  5. Add a New Image:

    • To add a new image, click on the "+ Insert" button or icon on the page. This will open a menu with different element options.

  6. Choose "Image" Element:

    • From the menu, select the "Image" option. This will open a window where you can upload a new image from your computer or select one from your Google Drive.

  7. Upload or Select an Image:

    • Choose the method you prefer to add the image to your site. If uploading from your computer, click the "Choose an image to upload" button, locate the image file on your computer, and then click "Open" to upload it.

  8. Adjust Image Size and Position (Optional):

    • After adding the image, you can click and drag its corners to resize it or click and drag the image itself to reposition it on the page. This step is optional if you're satisfied with the image's default size and position.

  9. Save Changes:

    • Once you're happy with the new image's placement and appearance, click the "Save" button at the top right corner to save your changes.

Changing the Cover Image:

  1. Enter Edit Mode:

    • Follow steps 1 to 3 from the previous section to enter edit mode for your site.

  2. Access Site Header Settings:

    • At the top of your site, locate the cover image or banner. It's usually a large image that spans across the width of the site.

  3. Click on "Change image" or the Pencil Icon:

    • Hover your mouse over the cover image until you see a "Change image" link or a pencil/edit icon. Click on it to open the image selection window.

  4. Choose a New Image:

    • In the image selection window, you can upload a new image from your computer or select one from your Google Drive.

  5. Adjust Cover Image Size (Optional):

    • After adding the new cover image, you can click and drag its corners to resize it. However, keep in mind that the cover image usually automatically adjusts to fit the width of the site.

  6. Save Changes:

    • Once you're satisfied with the new cover image, click the "Save" button at the top right corner to save your changes.

How to Change Website Title

Changing the title of a Google Sites website is a simple process. The title is the name that appears at the top of your site and is usually the first thing visitors see. Assuming your Google Site is already open, follow these step-by-step instructions to change the title:

  1. Access Your Google Site:

    • Go to the Google Sites website (sites.google.com) and log in with your Google account.

    • Open the Google Site for which you want to change the title.

  2. Enter Edit Mode:

    • Look for the small pencil icon or the "Edit" button at the top right corner of the page. Click on it to enter edit mode. This will allow you to make changes to your site.

  3. Locate the Current Title:

    • Look at the top of your site, where the current title is displayed. This title is usually in a large font and centered at the header of the page.

  4. Edit the Title:

    • Click on the existing title to activate the editing mode for the title. You should now see a cursor in the title text box, indicating that you can edit it.

  5. Type the New Title:

    • Simply type the new title you want for your Google Site. You can change it to anything you like, such as the name of your organization, the project, or any other relevant title.

  6. Save the Changes:

    • After typing the new title, click the "Save" button at the top right corner of the page to save your changes.

  7. Preview and Publish (Optional):

    • If you want to see how your site looks with the new title before making it live, click the "Preview" button (usually an eye icon) at the top right corner. This allows you to view your site as visitors would see it without actually publishing the changes.

    • If you're satisfied with the new title, click the "Publish" button at the top right corner to make your edited title visible to the public.

How to Import From Google Drive
