Since you seem to be a well versed Maine historian, I have a question for you.....
As you know, town and unorganized township boundaries in the northern part of the state are largely broken down into a township/range configuration reminiscent of the public land system. Do you know anything about how/when the boundaries were originally established and by whom? I would suspect there must have been some sort of initial survey?
