path to becoming a licensed surveyor

Wondered if some of you wouldn't mind sharing where you got your training. When I was young I didn't want to be a surveyor. I wanted to be a watchmaker. My eyes wouldn't take well to Rolex repair any more but I am becoming more intrigued with your chosen career. So if you don't mind where did you get your schooling, how long have you been enjoying the solitude of surveying, and is 58 too old to get serious about becoming licensed? I meant for the post to end before this but one more question. What are the disciplines involved in being a good surveyor?

Thanks
