surveying a parcel with a town line

when the townlines were surveyed in the 1700's the lines were straight lines from corner to corner. today we survey the parcel which has a line on the town line and hold the stonewall that was built. there's townline bounds in between these corners. most of the time by a road. we usally don't know who or when they were set. now the towns go every 7 years and accept these corners and the bounds in between. the ones in between are not on that original line.
