In order to calibrate EDM equipment, a monumented base line has been set up along the Frontage Road (Old U.S. 421) on the north-side of Interstate Highway 74, northwest of Pleasant View, Indiana. Located in southeast part of Marion County, Indiana.
The monuments are 42" deep poured concrete with brass tablets in the highway pavement. The monuments were allowed to settle for several months prior to measuring and marking.
Monuments have been established at intervals of 0, 50, 100, 200 and 300 feet, and at 150, 800 and 1400 meters.
Distances were taped using precise procedures with a Lufkin Minvar Low Expansion Tape, Serial No. 2386.
Following is a tabulation of the horizontal measurements and their elevations assuming 100.00 ft. on the 0 monument.
