Hi All,
I'm a university student and GIS specialist and definitely NOT an experienced surveyor. My research project uses drone imagery to map snow surfaces and is attempting to measure show depths. We need to validate the the snow surfaces in forested environments, and of course, our GNSS base station and RTK rover setup do not work under canopy. I need some advice on the equipment and training necessesary to overcome this issue. I picture getting checkpoints (3d coordinates of the snow surface) using a total station that ties into the base station as a benchark, but I may be way off-base here. Any help or documentation would be really appreicated.
Thanks,
James
