Oklahoma's New State Plane Coordinate System | Low Distortion Projection

View Event on Website

To improve the National Spatial Reference System (NSRS), NGS will replace the North American Datum of 1983 (NAD 83) and the North American Vertical Datum of 1988 (NAVD 88) with a new geometric reference frame and geopotential datum in 2022.

Through a concerted outreach effort by NGS, each state is being given the opportunity to choose how they would like to update their individual State Plane Coordinate systems. Staying with the old 2-zone system is NOT the most optimum solution for survey grade control work performed in Oklahoma.

This seminar will be focused on the discussion and advantages of a new Low Distortion Projection for our State Plane Coordinate System going forward

The speaker will be Michael Dennis, PhD, RLS, PE, (National Geodetic Survey) one of the country's preeminent experts on Low Distortion Projections and SPCS2022 Project Manager
