A-E 7 "Minimum Standards for Property Surveys" is only the beginning of many other potential discussions regarding the role of the Land Surveyor in matters of professional conduct in the State of Wisconsin. These are the "Tenets" that we live by as professionals. Any deviance to the contents of the Wisconsin Administrative Code, Chapter A-E 7 could result in a case of nonfeasance or malfeasance on the part of the professional Land Surveyor. Those who hold themselves responsible for their own actions in respect to these basic principles must take it upon themselves to not only abide by them, but to educate the general public about them. Don't expect that your client understands the code by which your profession operates. They probably do not know what you need to do to provide them with what they want. "Cant you just....." (fill in the blanks). The answer is no, because.....(fill them in again for your client). Usually what I get in return for a full explanation of what I can do for them and exactly how I have to do it is a contract. Success!
For those who are students of Land Surveying in Wisconsin, the following is something that you should read carefully. For those who are already licensed professionals, the following is something that you should use to educate those who you mentor. Wisely accommodate your mentor or peer with questions regarding what is to be expected.

Hi Scott!
This is very interesting to me as a non-US surveyor. Can you provide me the link or can you provide me the entire pdf for this? I am interested on how US surveyors do property surveying as well as the standard cartography practices in your place.
Thank you for sharing this.
Regards,
Arnel
Arnel,
I'm glad to see that you are interested. Would you do the same for me from your area?
What I posted above came from a page inside the following link: http://www.doa.state.wi.us/section.asp?linkid=131&locid=9
Here is another great link for Wisconsin Land Surveyors (the Wisconsin State Cartographer's Office: http://www.sco.wisc.edu/
