WHAT: Workshop to Update the 2 hour Alabama Land Surveying Standards,
History and Law Exam
WHEN: Friday & Saturday, May 11-12, 2012
WHERE: Montgomery, Alabama
WHO: Open to all practicing surveyors licensed in Alabama
APPLYING: Fill out the volunteer form (available from the PE/LS Board and from
ASPLS). The Board is seeking a balanced cross section of practicing
Professional Land Surveyors by their experience, type of practice, type of
employer, etc., and will make final selections after all volunteer forms have
been received.
DEADLINE: Forms (mail, fax, or email) must be received at the Board Office by noon
Friday, April 20, 2012.
REFERENCES: Prior to the workshop, participants are asked to identify all of the
reference materials that an exam candidate should study for the exam.
Volunteers should bring these references to the workshop for use in
preparing exam questions. The current list of references is on the second
page of this document.
WORKSHOP: The Workshop will be conducted by TEST, Inc. of Denver, CO, which
provides expert guidance for designing licensing examinations and writing
exam questions. TEST, Inc. led the development of the current Alabama
Exam III.
Day 1: 4 hours - Revise the exam blueprint (i.e., identify important topics that should
be on the exam, and the % of the exam allocated to each topic).
4 hours - Writing good exam question training, and preparation of questions
for the revised exam.
Day 2: 8 hours - Finish preparing questions for the revised exam.
INCENTIVES: Participants will receive PDH Credit for the workshop (2 days), plus
the Board will pay mileage to and from Montgomery.
