Surveyor who found 9/11 plane part gear calls it โ€˜piece of a murder weaponโ€™ Frank VanBrunt was one of two surveyors who found the 5-foot-long piece of twisted landing gear from one of the planes that flew into the World Trade Center. It was located just blocks away from Ground Zero and he thinks the relic should be added to the Sept. 11 Memorial Museum. He was merely surveying a building when he stumbled upon a chilling crime scene. Frank VanBrunt was one of two land surveyors who found the 5-foot-long piece of twisted landing gear from one of the Boeing 767s that crashed into the World Trade Center on 9/11. Only after some thought did the 59-year-old understand the magnitude of what heโ€™d found in the 18-inch-wide space. โ€œI realized later โ€” this is a piece of a murder weapon lying there,โ€ VanBrunt told the Daily News from his home in Hicksville, L.I.
