A closer look to one of the PVC pipes where monument inside is visible. (This is not always the case, after a while the pipes are often filled with dirt.)It's a typical monument for this area: They often still set "stones" (even if these are now made of concrete instead of granite). Only in places where it would be impracticable to set such a monument, other markers are used.That's another difference to Hanover: There usually other monuments like pipes with plastic caps are used, as you don't have to dig a hole to place them but you can just drive them into the ground with a hammer.
