Aaron Breed (1791-1861), Boston, made both nautical and surveying instruments. This dory compass helped dorymen get back to the mother ship or shore when it was foggy.My reference library has Aaron Breed Octants, surveyors compass's, dory compasses, advertisements, etc. Also note the "Sons of Liberty" emblem at the North point.
