The public seems to know more about Bigfoot than they do about Land Surveyors.  It may seem a bit hyperbolic to compare land surveyors with bigfoot, but it isNot to write a book here, but couple of our beloved followers have asked why Bigfoot has been chosen to represent our Mentorship project.

• So if you are confused too, here is the logic:
  
  1) In this world full of people so easily offended, how else can something like "Seasoned Surveyors" or "New Surveyors" be generalized for 80k surveyors around the world without someone getting their feeling hurt or feeling left out? If you have a better idea, let me know.
  
  2) How the Public sees Bigfoot:
  
  BF might be in or around your yard right now
• BF knows what he/she is doing there, apparently
• You might run across BF on accident
• You'll see BF once BF is right up on you
• BF is gone before you know it
• BF is rarely seen on purpose
• Seeing BF could mean something bad or good or neither
• BF loves being BF
• No one knows more about big feet than BF
• BF could be in your yard right now
• BF is always doing something incomprehensible
• Only BF understands the tools BF uses
• BF obviously know the land better than you
• BF's woods game is prehistoric
• BFs keep to themselves
• BF walks with a purpose, like he's working
• BF may be pretending to work
• BF does not work for you
• No one knows when the first BF lived
• BF might smell horrible
• BF might bite your head off
• BF thinks we don't know what we are doing
• BF don't seem to trust other BFs
• Big Shoes require big feet
• Only Bigfoot can fill those shoes
• Bigfoot doesn't seem to understand the public either
• Bigfoot should quit hiding...
  
  Bigfoot needs to get real.

Regardless of what the public think of BF, either the BF doesn't exist or they do, it is up to BF to let the public know that and only BF can improve his public image. If they do exist, they are going extinct...those who are left seem to be smarter than us- how else could they stay hidden for this long?

There simply can't be many BF left to teach other Bigfoots- it will be hard for future bigfoot to survive like their ancestors, if in the future they do not step up their education game, passing down that Bigfoot knowledge exciting a new generation to celebrate all that it means to be Bigfoot. The public wants to kill what they do not understand. Bigfoot needs to be real. People need to be able to call on Bigfoot and pay bigfoot for his professional assessment. The public will love BF more if BF would show what BF really enjoys about bigfooting. It may become expensive to not call Bigfoot at the right time.
Bigfoot is the first one in and the last one out. It is questionable whether one bigfoot is capable of communication or collaboration with other bigfoots, even if it means saving the species from extinction. Bigfoot needs to think of his/her future....

Get where I'm going with this?

I can't possibly see how Bigfoot could offend anyone but if it does, that is certainly not the intention. Someone will always find a reason to object. A LOT of talk talk talk is all over the place about the challenges future surveyors face but I see very few out there actually doing something about it. We are at least trying and putting an innovative foot forward. Our goal is to bring everyone together on their own terms for the benefit of surveyors in the future that we may never even meet...

Is it perfect? No. But there are built in mechanisms for reporting bugs.

Will it solve all of the challenges surveyors face? Probably not, but it will help us identify solutions as a community.
